Property Projects That Will Make Your Shrine Shine

Home improvement projects are a great way to increase the eye appeal of your property, and even to increase its value. But this doesn't mean that you have to invest in costly remodeling projects or new constructions. A simple paint job (using the right colors) and some landscaping projects are just a couple of effective ways to make your home shine. As a property manager, I understand first hand what it takes to set a home apart from the neighboring crowd – so I started this blog in hopes that I can inspire others to plan their own fun projects in and around their homes. Let this site be your guide to a new and improved palace!

Why Lawn Drainage Is So Important

After periods of rain, it might not seem uncommon to see water standing in your yard. Although you can certainly expect to deal with some moisture after a nasty rain storm, you should know that proper drainage can help take care of the problem. A good drainage system could be as simple as running pipes under the ground and out into your area's street side drainage system, and you could see a major improvement. If you don't see what the big deal is, consider these main reasons why lawn drainage is something that you should take seriously.

Prevent Flooding

If you don't live near a large body of water, you might not think that flooding is something that you need to worry about. However, even properties that aren't near bodies of water can still have flooding issues, especially in the basement or garage. All it takes is for it to rain hard for a few days or weeks at a time, and if your lawn isn't properly draining the water, it could become a bigger issue than you think.

Avoid Foundation Damage

Did you know that water standing around the outside of your home can be a major cause of foundation damage? Basically, as the water causes the soil to contract as it soaks it up like a sponge, it can cause your foundation to adjust. Over time, this can cause cracks and other problems. By draining the water away from your home, you can help preserve your foundation and prevent the need for costly foundation repair.

Keep Pests at Bay

Standing water can be a big contributor to a pest control issue. For example, it can cause mosquitoes to hang out around your home, which can be a major annoyance for your family. This water source can also cause snakes and other pests to come around.

Protect Your Plants

Sure, plants like water, but they don't like too much water. Standing water on your property can cause your grass to drown and can kill your other plants as well. It can also cause other landscaping issues, such as causing your gravel, dirt and mulch to wash away. For your lawn to be truly attractive, it's important to keep excessive water at bay.

As you can see, proper lawn drainage is something to take seriously. Luckily, a lawn care professional or drainage installation company should be able to help you achieve better drainage on your property.
